If the minimum load requirements are not met, sliding can occur and generates excessive heat and noise. In addition, loose fit between bearing and rotor can also have a detrimental effect on bearing performance because of sliding. Adequate load and correct fit selection are essential in preventing skidding.
Normally, there won’t be relative displacement between bearing, shaft and housing. However, creeping marks can be found on bearing, shaft and housing if wrong fit was selected. Pictures below show how wrong fit would affect bearing outer ring surface.
⦿ Countermeasures:
1. Use appropriate tolerance, please refer to TPI catalog
2. Use appropriate tolerance depend on the working condition
